TAT lures Japanese
From July 1-7, TAT have visited the cities of Fukuoka, Osaka and Tokyo in a bid to lure more independent travellers from Japan.
Thirty-six private companies participated – 30 hotels and resorts in Bangkok, Koh Samui, Phuket and Chiang Mai, five golf course operators and one travel firm.
The only concern that stemmed from the event by the Japanese tourist is about the country’s political problems such as last year’s New Year’s Eve bomb blasts in Bangkok.
This has also caused many tourists to switch destinations to countries like Australia, China and Hong Kong.
But, TAT has quickly updated the Japanese audience with information on the political situation being stronger after the general election due at the end of 2007.
