The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Thai Airways International (THAI) have attempted to boost Thailand’s tourism industry by jointly organising the “Amazing Thailand Amazing Value” MegaFam trip.
The event, which ended yesterday, supported the Visit Thailand Year 2009 project, saw THAI bring 450 tour operators and travel trade media to Thailand from around the world. The MegaFam’s objective is to reassure the travelling public of Thailand being a safe destination, providing value for money, while providing updated information on the country’s tourism products and services.
TAT Governor, Phornsiri Manoharn, said that the event would help rebuild the industry to restore visitors’ confidence, re-establish business channels, and emerge stronger and better than ever before.
“Thailand is and continues to be a wonderful diverse tourism destination with great beaches, food, spas, hotels, nature, sports and smiles,” Governor Phornsiri added. “Thailand is again ready to welcome the world under the ‘Amazing Thailand Amazing Value’ campaign that focuses on positioning Thailand as the perfect value-for-money destination.
Pandit Chanapai, THAI’s Executive Vice President for Commercial, added that the national carrier had developed many strategies to promote sales since the closure of Bangkok’s airport late last year, and that THAI’s international load factors had recovered to around 75% last month.
