The Tourism Authority of Thailand staged roadshows last week in Sweden, Denmark, Hungary and Czech Republic right after their participation at the ITB trade show. According to a report in The Nation, these countries contributed over 770,000 visitors to Thailand last year. TAT Governor Phornsiri Manoharn was quoted saying that a flight shortage remained the key stumbling block for tourists from those countries. The ITB show itself is expected to yield Bt30 billion worth of tour and hotel reservations, the report said. According to the TAT governor, reservations and bookings were made until 2010. Some 140 Thailand operators, including 117 hotel operators from Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi, Samui, Hua Hin, as well as 20 tour operators and other organisations such as hospitals and airlines, were at the ITB trade show.
