Thai Airways cancels all European flights

Flag carrier cites India-Pakistan tension as reason for cancellations

thai airways flights cancelledAs a result of the political tension between India and Pakistan that saw a plane shot down this week, Thai Airways has temporarily cancelled all flights to Europe leaving hundreds of Thai locals and tourists stranded in Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Thailand’s flag carrier cancelled all its scheduled flights to Europe for today – including one that had already taken off and was forced to turn back, according to UK publication Daily Mail.

The airline’s flights to and from Europe pass over Indian and Pakistan air space.

The next scheduled flight to London was due to leave just after midnight tonight but officials said it would be rescheduled. Flights to and from Frankfurt, Paris, Oslo, Milan, Zurich and Copenhagen have also been cancelled.
