Thai Airways (THAI) said it hedged jet-fuel prices at US$86-125 per barrel in the second half of last year, accounting for 41% of the fuel used, The Nation reported. The airline insisted that the policy was, at the time, a global norm, only differing from other airlines in the hedging price and duration.
“Compared with other airlines, THAI conducted its hedging for a very short duration, 3-6 months ending in March 2009, and a volume accounting for 17% of what was used,” THAI was reported saying in a statement.
