Thai Airways International (THAI) has completed the switch to the Amadeus Altéa IT system, which will now manage the majority of its operations.
The Altéa Suite handles a range of business functions including sales and reservations, inventory, ticketing and departure control. Overall, Amadeus claims the system will “improve customer service and drive more efficient business operations”.
THAI’s migration project involved training more than 12,000 employees on the new system, and included the transfer of approximately 500,000 Passenger Name Records (PNRs) and 1.5 million e-tickets to the Altéa system. Additionally, more than 60 THAI airport stations have moved to the Amadeus Altéa departure control and flight management solutions.
“We are pleased to have implemented a system that is flexible enough to meet the demands of our passengers today, and also prepare THAI for further growth,” said Suraphon Israngura Na Ayuthya, THAI’s acting executive vice president of commercial. “Right from the start we knew we were in good hands, given Amadeus’ excellent track record in implementing large-scale IT systems for the world’s best airlines.
“The successful migration helps us deliver on our commitment to put the traveller first, and is a big step forward for us as we strive to become the leading airline in Asia and among the best worldwide.”
Amadeus Altéa is already used by more than 120 airlines, including the majority of Star Alliance members.
