THAI receives third A380
Thai Airways International (THAI) has taken delivery of its third Airbus A380 aircraft.
The new double-decker aircraft has handed over to the airline at a delivery ceremony in Toulouse on 21 December 2012, attended by THAI’s President, Dr Sorajak Kasemsuvan, and Chris Buckley, Airbus’ Executive Vice President for Europe & Asia.
The new aircraft, which has been named ‘Chaiya’, arrived at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport the following morning. It will now be operated on the Bangkok-Tokyo Narita route from 1 January 2013.
THAI ordered a total of six Airbus A380, with the first being delivered in September 2012 and the sixth expected to arrive in the final quarter of 2013. Other destinations to be served by the new aircraft include Frankfurt, Sydney, London and Paris.
THAI will equip all six of its A380s with 507 seats – 12 in first class, 137 in business class and 435 in economy.
