Thai Airways International (THAI) is upgrading passenger cabins and products on 12 of its Boeing 747-400 aircraft. Being implemented in two phases, the project will initially see six 747s fitted with new seats, seat back screens and new in-flight entertainment systems in economy class, offering 100 movies, 150 TV shows, 500 music albums and 17 musci channels. This phase has already started and is expected to be complete next year. The second phase will see a further six 747s retrofitted from 2012 to 2013.
THAI’s first Boeing 747-400, named ‘Prarajchatun Siriwatana’ has now been delivered with the new cabin and in-flight products. Along with the seats and IFE, a personal telephone system was installed to allow customers to make phone calls to ground networks during flight.
The refitted B747s are fitted with 10 Royal First Class seats with a seat width of 21.84 inches and seat pitch of 76 inches. All seats can also recline 180 degrees, and are equipped with a 10.4 inch personal screen. A total of 40 seats are available in Royal Silk Class and 325 seats Economy Class.
