Thai Airways International (THAI) has revealed the aircraft livery for its new low cost carrier, THAI Smile.
The brand name, THAI Smile, draws on two elements. ‘THAI’ builds on the reputation of the national carrier as a quality full-service operator, while ‘Smile’ exudes “friendliness”. Meanwhile, the new aircraft livery design demonstrates the “Trendy-Friendly-Worthy” image the airline is trying to project.
THAI Smile Air will begin its staff recruitment next month. In the first phase, 40 pilots will be recruited in October and 100 female flight attendants will be recruited in November.
With 11 Airbus A320s on order, the airline will take delivery of the aircraft at intervals starting in June 2012, ready to begin operations in July. Further deliveries will be taken in August (2), September, January 2013 and March 2013.
Initially THAI Smile Air will operate domestic flights such as Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Chiang Rai, and Surat Thani, and later with international routes focusing on ASEAN destinations such as China and India in 2013.
