Thailand hosts north Indian tourism roadshow
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) recently held a roadshow in north and east India, with 14 travel companies visiting two Indian cities to showcase Thailand’s tourism products.
The events, which were held in Kolkata on 31 July and Chandigarh on 2 August, gathered more than 100 travel agents from the region, including the cities of Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Amritsar. The events included face-to-face sessions in each city offering agents to interact with Thai travel trade, along with a presentation of Thai products and a Thai dinner.
The new destinations being promoted included the former Thai capital Ayutthaya, Khao Yai National Park, the seaside resorts of Rayong, Samui, Krabi, Phuket and Hua Hin, and the northern city of Chiang Mai. A range of niche segments such as weddings, golf, wellness, adventure and women’s groups were also marketed.
“By the end of 2012, we aim to have at least one million Indian visitors to Thailand,” said the TAT’s Director in New Delhi, Runjuan Tongrut.
