Thailand’s main airport operator is planning to increase the passenger service charge (PSC). The Bangkok Post reported yesterday that Airports of Thailand (AoT) is requesting the charge for international passengers be raised from THB700 to THB800 (US$23 to US$26), and the domestic charge from THB100 to THB250. The charges are bundled into airfares.
The PSC is AoT’s single largest revenue stream, amounting to THB10 billion a year, or 40% of its total income. AoT manages most of Thailand’s major airports, including Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport, and those in Phuket, Chiang Mai and Hat Yai.
