Thailand woos Chinese with Visa
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has joined hands with Visa International (China) to attract Chinese visitors during the Olympics period, Bangkok Post reported.
Together with Thai Airways International and four Chinese banks, 10,000 tour packages will be offered to Visa platinum cardholders and other travellers during the Olympic competition that runs from August 8 to 24.
According to TAT governor Phornsiri Manoharn, China has more than 50 million Visa cardholders with 500,000 holding platinum cards.
Phornsiri was quoted saying that the promotions were expected to help the TAT meet its target of 1.2 million Chinese arrivals this year, up from 1.03 million last year.
