March 2010: The Langham, Hong Kong is set to enchant and delight guests with its new MICE initiative - Enchanting Events - that offers meeting and event planners an array of bewitching themes for their meetings, events and celebrations. Traditional functions will be given a new twist with four enchanting themes - Rule Britannia (recalling the elegance of the Victorian era); Anything Goes (reliving the glamour and romance of the Charleston era); “Hui Yi” (a classic Chinese theme); and Bibbity Babbity Boo (enchanted fairytales) - to transform any event into a wonderland of enchanting encounters. These themes can be introduced with ease by The Langham, Hong Kong’s professional events staff for an additional cost on the standard meeting package, with event and meeting planners having the option of introducing the special theme in the welcome break, morning break, afternoon tea, lunch, cocktail or dinner.
Rule Britannia
Rule Britannia takes guests back to the Victorian Era in which The Langham, London opened as the first Grand Hotel in Europe. In this package, The Langham’s signature pink elements will feature, from the delightful pink-themed food to the pink roses, pink lollies, pink mint boxes and poems by Oscar Wilde. The Langham, Hong Kong can take the theme further with picnic set ups complete with checkered table clothes, faux green grass and hostesses dressed in the white gloves and lace picnic dresses of the era, or keep it simple with hat boxes, candelabras, and vases of the gorgeous Langham signature pink roses. The Langham, Hong Kong can also arrange for pretty pink extras including pink chocolate ladies shoes and pink chocolate top hats with chocolate truffles, and pink macaroons.
Anything Goes
In this package, event and meeting planners have the option of enchanting guests with a New Yorker breakfast, Waffle Station, Chocolate Afternoon Break, Charleston-themed working lunch or fresh seafood dinner, all inspired by the glamour and glitz of the Charleston era. Whimsical extras include the muffled radio broadcasts typical of the 1930s period, staff holding popcorn in vintage cigarette boxes, big band and / or gramophone music to truly immerse guests in the experience, and a movie experience showing 1930s films such as Gone with the Wind during breaks. Guests may also receive chocolate shaped records with a personalized name and message or classic foil-wrapped chocolate cigars.
Hui Yi
Hui Yi brings together the best of the East, featuring delicious traditional Cantonese cuisine from the Michelin-starred T’ang Court, and Modern Chinese dishes. This package also includes delightful additions to the events and meeting package such as a ‘Make your own dumplings’ class (part of the package’s Lunch offerings), and at additional costs, a Mandarin lesson, a fortune telling session (featuring Finches, Hong Kong’s ‘fortune-telling birds’), Chinese noodles and dim sum demonstrations, a tai chi workshop, a Chinese tea ceremony, a traditional mah-jong game, a Chinese calligraphy class or even a dragon dance performance. The Hui Yi package is a truly authentic Chinese package that will immerse guests in Hong Kong’s rich culture and heritage and provide a wonderful and memorable experience. Event and Meeting planners can also arrange small treats including pistachio dumplings with lemon ganache, mini coconut pandan cakes and almond and emperor cookies for guests.
Bibbity Babbity Boo
Drawing on Langham’s association with elegance, romance, fantasy and fairytales, the Bibbity Babbity Boo package draws on the West’s most enchanting fairytales. The breaks are themed after fairytale classics including Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland and Cinderella, while Dinner features whimsical food stations including Fantasia (sushi), The Gypsy Queen (Mexico), Wonderland (oysters), Mulan (Chinese), Hansel & Gretel (Charcuterie) and Beauty and the Beast (desserts). Tying in with an ‘all things pink and pretty’ theme, event and meeting planners can also arrange for pink chocolate ladies shoes and pink chocolate top hats with chocolate truffles, pink macaroons, and mini white chocolate and raspberry cupcakes as gifts. Entertainment including a magician, a fairytale movie experience and hostesses dressed in fairytale costumes completes the magical experience.
