WALLACE WONG has become the Pacific Asia Travel Association’s (PATA) new regional director for Asia. Malaysian-born Wong joins the Bangkok-based association with 10 years’ experience in the travel industry, most recently as Travelport’s regional business development director for Asia Pacific.

TAN KOK MENG has become Malaysia Airlines’ new chief information officer. A Malaysian national, Tan will officially join the airline on 18 May. He has worked for several companies, including AstraZeneca, Standard Chartered Bank and Citibank, and most recently served as group CIO of Malayan Banking Bhd.

MARTIN TOLAN has been promoted to the role of chief operating officer for the Anantara Vacation Club. Tolan joined the company more than two years ago as senior vice president of sales & marketing. Prior to this, he spent 15 years in management positions with Starwood Vacation Ownership.

SARAH BUILT has been appointed as Etihad Airways’ general manager for Australia & New Zealand, based in Sydney. She has 25 years of aviation experience, including sales and management roles with KLM, American Airlines, SWISS, Kingfisher Airlines and Jet Airways. She joined Etihad in 2011 as its global industry sales manager.

REX DEMANSER has been named head commercial officer for Oaks Hotels & Resorts, the Australian brand operated by Thailand’s Minor Hotel Group. Based on the Sunshine Coast, Demanser brings more than 25 years experience to the role. He joins Oaks following a spell as a special projects consultant for Minor in Bangkok.

SYLVAIN PASDELOUP has been announced as the new general manager at the Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort. Pasdeloup was formerly the resort’s hotel manager, and has been promoted to the top job at the age of just 33. He has been with Sofitel for several years, overseeing the opening of properties in India and Indonesia.

DANNY TSE has been appointed executive assistant manager at the InterContinental Hong Kong. The move marks a promotion for Tse, who joined the property in 2005 and has since held positions including director of front office and director of rooms. He has also worked for Shangri-La in China and Australia.
