SOMSAK PUREESRISAK has been named as Thailand’s new Minister of Tourism & Sports. An electrical engineer by training, Somsak has twice served as Governor of Thailand’s Suphan Buri province and is a member of the Chart Pattana Party, which is part of the coalition government.
WINSTON REINBOTH has been appointed General Manager of the Grand Copthorne Waterfront in Singapore. He arrives at the hotel with extensive experience, mainly in the sales and marketing fields. He has previously worked for hotel labels such as Le Méridien, Hilton, Sheraton and Marriott.
STEPHEN MORAHAN has become the new General Manager of Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort in northern Thailand. An Australian national, Morahan has 20 years’ experience with Starwood, Hyatt and IHG. He was previously Executive Assistant Manager of Sheraton on the Park in Sydney.
JULIAN MOORE has been named as the new General Manager of the Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa. The move marks a return to the Maldives property for Moore, who was part of its pre-opening team in 2009. He has a career spanning 30 years in the Maldives, Australia, Thailand and the UAE.
JOHN HARVEY is the new Marketing Director of Hogg Robinson Group (HRG). Harvey first joined HRG in 1979 and worked his way up through several areas of the business, including commerce, consulting and technology. He joined HRG team in 2009 to lead the global sales team.
JOEL FISHER has been announced as TripAdvisor’s new Director of Display Advertising Sales for Asia Pacific, based in Singapore. Fisher arrives at TripAdvisor from Travelzoo and Sojern, where he oversaw regional advertising sales teams. He has also been Director of Media Sales at Travelocity.
ANDREA TAVELLA has been named as Costa Cruises’ new Trade Business Development Director. Tavella has served as the cruise line’s Sales & Marketing Director for the Italian market since 2007, and is now taking on the dual position with the aim of driving growth for Costa in other markets.
ANTHONY MUNN has been announced as the new Executive Chef at the Hyatt Regency Hua Hin. Chef Anthony began his career in New Zealand in 1980 at the Hermitage Hotel Mount Cook, before to moving to Australia. In 2007 he joined Hyatt Regency Perth as Chef de Cuisine for Banquets.
