Thomas Cook India has started offering a new online visa service for its customers.
The new service provides travellers with visa information via the Thomas Cook India website, including visa requirements for each destination, downloadable visa application forms, consular addresses and opening times, plus the cost and processing time of the application.
The move follows a study undertaken by Thomas Cook India into the visa application trends within the Indian market. This report, based on internal data from May and June 2015, found that Singapore accounted for the highest number of online visa applications, with 41% of the total, followed by Schengen countries (16%), Malaysia (15%), the UK (7%), USA (5%), Canada (4%) and Australia (3%).
Travellers from Bengaluru were the most likely to apply for visas online, ahead of those from Mumbai and Delhi. Pune and Hyderabad completed the top five.
“The world is changing rapidly and so is customer behaviour,” said Amit Madhan, Thomas Cook India’s chief operating officer for IT & e-services.
“Obtaining a visa remains one of the biggest pain points for India’s traveller as it involves filling complex applications, travelling to metro cities, standing in queues for submissions, interviews etc. With visa services online, our intent is to eliminate multi-level complexities.”
Under its new online visa service, Thomas Cook India will take travellers through the full process, including documents checks, submission, collection and final delivery of a visa stamped passport.
Thomas Cook India handled more than 20,000 online visa application requests in the months of May and June 2015.
