Thomas Cook customers in the UK can now spread the cost of their perfect holiday by paying via Direct Debit.
On booking, customers pay a low deposit, with the remaining balance to be collected in monthly instalments.
Setting up Direct Debit is simple and is integrated as part of the checkout process when booking via the agent’s website.
Thomas Cook has teamed up with GoCardless to offer this service and become one of the first tour operators to offer an interest-free payment plan with zero fees for its customers. Customers pay no more than they would with a debit card – no surcharges are applied by Thomas Cook for payments of this type – and they can enjoy the ease of paying through regular instalments, all covered by the Direct Debit guarantee.
When booking online, customers select the date of the month that the direct debit is taken; matching the payment date with convenient dates, such as payday.
Customers can secure their holiday at a low upfront cost as they are offered the lowest deposit available. The deposit is paid through credit, debit or Thomas Cook gift card, then the customer can make a separate choice of which bank account to use for balance payments. As well as helping customers to manage their holiday costs, the automatic, fee-free installment mechanism removes the need to make balance payments manually.
Emma Davis, Head of Digital Product for Search to Book at Thomas Cook, said: “We know that for many of our customers, a holiday is their biggest spend of the year, and we are always looking for ways to help them pay. By partnering with GoCardless we’re offering our customers an easy, fee-free way to spread the cost of their holiday whilst securing upfront at minimal cost.”
