Thong Fook Group, a Malaysian conglomerate, has entered the hospitality sector with the launch of a new hotel in Malaysia.
The new WEIL Hotel is located in Ipoh, the capital of Perak state, and offers 313 rooms and suites, a rooftop infinity-edged swimming pool, a gym and spa, plus Chinese and international restaurants and a rooftop bar.
There are also two levels of event space, including a 900-pax capacity ballroom, three meeting rooms and a 600-pax conference centre.
“The Thong Fook Group has been in Malaysia since 1945 via the ground nut Pagoda brand. Over the years, we have grown and diversified our business in the plastics manufacturing and precision plastic moulding industries into other industries with interests particularly in the fast-moving consumer goods, wellness and now, the hospitality industry. The unveiling of WEIL Hotel is a showcase of our foray into the hospitality industry,” said Liew Yu-Wei, executive director of WEIL Resources.
“We foresee WEIL Hotel will bring about a change in the business, socio-economic and lifestyle landscape in Ipoh in particular and to the state of Perak in general.”
The hotel is linked to the Ipoh Parade Shopping Centre.
