A thunderstorm on Tuesday evening in Delhi disrupted the flight schedule at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) airport in New Delhi.
The wind speed touched 70kmph with 6mm rainfall recorded between 1730 to 2230 hours. At least five flights were diverted at the IGI Airport while several flights were delayed by 30 minutes to an hour in the evening. “The winds were so strong that flights were unable to stick to their paths. Boarding at Terminal 1D was also held up for a short while as it would have been dangerous to step out onto the tarmac in such extreme weather. Some flights were also forced to do a go around since they were unable to land,” airport sources told the Times of India.
