Singapore, 10 March 2010. Tiger Airways Holdings today announced continued strong growth across both its Singapore and Australia operations in February 2010.
A total of 437,000 passengers chose to fly with Tiger Airways in February 2010, a 90% increase over February 2009. Passenger numbers benefited from the addition of double daily services between Hong Kong and Singapore and strong demand during the Lunar New Year period, the Chinese “Year of the Tiger”.
The average network-wide load factor also increased, with 85% of all available seats being sold, an increase of 6 percentage points over February 2009’s load factor of 79%.
For the rolling twelve months to February 2010, total passenger numbers grew to 4.7 million, an increase of 51% over the preceding twelve months.
Tony Davis, President and Group CEO of Tiger Airways Holdings, said, “We are delighted to report that our strong growth momentum has continued in February with the commencement of the “Year of the Tiger” and that our low cost, low fare model is attracting significantly higher numbers of passengers from across the region.
“Our newest aircraft has now joined the fleet enabling us to further grow our network, with the addition of services to Brisbane from Melbourne, Adelaide and Rockhampton starting this month. We are confident that consumers in Asia and Australia will continue to respond positively as we focus our efforts on further reducing our operating costs and offering even lower fares.” said Tony Davis.
