To mark the opening of its new Australian base at Adelaide Airport, Singapore’s low-cost carrier, Tiger Airways, will be giving away 15,000 free flights, The Advertiser reported.
The airline has expanded its routes out of Adelaide from one to six, adding Canberra, Hobart, Alice Springs, Gold Coast and Perth to its original single destination of Melbourne.
“South Australia has plenty to celebrate now that it has its own low-cost airline based in the state,” Tiger Airways Australia’s Managing Director, Shelley Roberts, was quoted saying.
Australia’s Tourism Minister and MP for Adelaide, Jane Lomax-Smith, was also quoted saying; “This means more interstate holidaymakers can travel to our state more affordably and from more of the country.”
The reports said the carrier would have two new A320 aircraft based in Adelaide, each able to carry 180 passengers. It would operate 44 flights a week, up from 14 in January last year.
