Tigerair Australia today launched its first coast-to-coast services connecting Sydney and Perth.
The new flight took off for the first time on Thursday (19 December 2013), marking the start of a regular six-times-a-week service between the two cities, which lie more than 3,300km apart. Flights will be operated using Tigerair’s 180-seat, all-economy Airbus A320 aircraft.
“The commencement of our Sydney–Perth… services re-enforces Tigerair’s commitment to respond to consumer demand and enable as many people as possible to see more of Australia,” said Tigerair Australia’s CEO, Rob Sharp.
“Our two daily return Melbourne–Perth services are very popular year round and we’re confident our Sydney–Perth services will also prove popular.”
The new service becomes Tigerair’s sixth new route of 2013, following Sydney–Coffs Harbour, Sydney–Alice Springs, Melbourne–Alice Springs, Sydney–Cairns and Sydney–Sunshine Coast.
