Tigerair Australia has announced plans to launch flights between Sydney and Perth, just in time for Christmas.
Commencing on 19 December 2013, the low-cost carrier will operate six weekly flights on the trans-continental route, using its single-aisle Airbus A320 aircraft. Tigerair’s new service will depart
Sydney Airport at 1955 or 2155, depending on the day, and arrive in Perth at 2155 or 2355. Return flights will leave Perth Airport at 2250 or 0100, arriving back into Sydney at 0605 or 0815 the following morning.
The new service will complement Tigerair’s existing Melbourne–Perth route, which operates up to three times a day.
“We’re regularly asked by the travelling public in WA to provide more services. This is great news for leisure seekers on a budget and will provide a welcome boost for tourism in West Australia and New South Wales,” said Tigerair Australia’s commercial director, Carly Brear.
“Flights start in time for the peak Christmas and New Year period so anyone looking for a great value getaway or that hasn’t planned for the January school holidays yet should be delighted about the launch of our latest new route,” she added.
The Sydney-Perth route marks the latest stage of Tigerair Australia’s expansion. Already this year it has launched five new routes: Sydney–Coffs Harbour, Sydney–Cairns, Sydney–Alice Springs, Melbourne–Alice Springs and Melbourne–Sunshine Coast.
