Tokyo’s Grand Prince Hotel Akasaka closes
Tokyo’s Grand Prince Hotel Akasaka is closing for redevelopment. The hotel’s owning company, Seibu Holdings, said that the Worldhotels First Class affiliate member will close its doors at the end of March.
The hotel dates back to 1955, with its landmark 40-storey tower added in 1983. In was last redesigned in 1998, and the owners have now decided to close the hotel for redevelopment. The plans for the project have not yet been decided.
“The Grand Prince Hotel Akasaka was much-loved and it is always sad to see an iconic institution close, but life moves on,” said Roland Jegge, Vice President Asia-Pacific for Worldhotels.
