Tourico Holidays, the global travel wholesaler, has significantly expanded its Asian hotel inventory, with a 20% increase in its regional rooms so far in 2016.
And bookings of pre-purchased hotel rooms, or Tourico’s “ExclusiveDeals”, have more than doubled in Asia this year. Tourico said it is aiming to pre-purchase another US$15 million worth of hotel inventory in Asia before the end of the year, targeting primary cities in China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand and Australia.
This follows a doubling of Tourico’s hotel partnerships in Asia in the last five years, with the company now offering more than 5,000 properties in the region.
“Asia is a region demonstrating incredible travel growth, punctuated recently by a very strong first half to 2016, so our primary goal now is to double our hotel inventory again in the next five years,” said Steve Skidgel, Tourico’s executive vice president of global product development.
“In addition to bolstering our hotel partnerships, we’ve also shifted focus to building out our pre-purchased hotel inventory in the market, growing our ancillary inventory, and continuing to add offices and personnel on the ground.”
Tourico is also expanding its ancillary offerings in Asia, having recently formed partnerships with Thai Rent A Car in Thailand and Hawk Rent A Car in Malaysia.
And the company recently opened a new office in Shenzhen, with further plans to launch facilities in Seoul and Sydney within the next six months. These will complement Tourico’s existing offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Bangkok, Delhi and Brisbane.
“Our rapid growth and continued expansion into the Asia Pacific region should indicated to our supplier partners and distribution clients that we intend to play a major role in this travel ecosystem today and in the years to come,” Skidgel added.
