Tourism Australia is hosting the India Travel Mission 2011 (ITM) at Hyderabad on 25-28 August in a bid to enhance the number of Indian tourists heading Down Under. Tourist numbers from India to Australia have displayed double-digit growth in the early part of the year. According to The Hindu, Indian visitors numbered 64,900 January – May, an increase of 10.6% over the comparative period in 2010.
The ITM is a residential business forum bringing together Indian travel agents and Australian tourism industry operators to meet and forge business relationships. A total of 90 buyers from India and 40 sellers from Australia will attend the event this week say organisers. Major airlines will be among those attending, with AirAsia, Qantas, Singapore Airlines and Virgin Australia all sending representatives.
