The town of Jaffna, on the northern-most tip of Sri Lanka, is preparing for an influx of tourists, with the development of new tourism infrastructure projects. A Tourist Information Centre has been set up in the heart of the town, while a new three-star hotel is taking shape in Nallur. The Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka (MBSL) is investing INR40 crore in the property, while inviting input from private investors. With the opening of the A9 roadway and resumption of flights to Jaffna, the peninsula is expecting an increasing number of tourist arrivals.
