16 April 2010: Tourism NT has shown a strong performance over the last 12 months and on Sunday 18 April kicks off its $970,000 domestic month-long Kakadu marketing campaign.
Tourism NT Chief Executive Maree Tetlow said this year’s campaign builds on previous campaigns and continues to showcase Kakadu National Park’s world-leading tourist experiences here on our doorstep.
“More Australians travel to the NT than any other state or territory seeking life-changing, spiritual, inspirational, unique experiences, as pointed out in the latest Roy Morgan Campaign Tracking Research released late last year, “said Ms Tetlow.
“This year we have created an integrated television and online strategy for the first time to reach ‘spirited travellers’, people wanting a deeper nature-based and Indigenous experience.
“The campaign celebrates the NT’s differences and is hosted by television personality and comedian Corinne Grant,” said Ms Tetlow.
“Viewers on Channel 7 and Yahoo!7 can share in Corinne’s travels as she visits the park’s many captivating attractions such as watching birdlife in the wetlands, casting a line to catch Barramundi or spending time with the people who call Kakadu home.
“The campaign has been adapted to seize the opportunities presented by social media to reach diverse audiences and online users who will be able to share their Kakadu experiences and stories on YouTube and Facebook,” said Ms Tetlow.
“We will also work with our media partner Lonely Planet in a joint online advertising campaign to reach young people and adventure travellers. People will be able to plan their holiday by keying in a few words and receiving one of five itineraries in return including the ‘adventure junkie’, ‘natural landscapes and wildlife’ and ‘outback road trip’ making it very easy for people to plan their holiday in advance,” said Ms Tetlow.
The $1.75 million campaign has the support of more than 13 trade and industry partners including Virgin Blue.
