Inghams has reported its largest trade bookings in its history as the company looks to a more positive ski season this year.
The ski specialist said 8% of trade sales are coming from travel agents that are new to the ski market and comes as the tour operator expands its programme to target different types of holidaymakers.
For the following season the company has new ‘Learn to Ski’ and ‘Welcome Back’ packages in Oberperfuss, Austria; Seefeld, Austria; Sauze d’Oulx, Italy; Kranjska Gora, Slovenia; Morzine, France and Saariselkä, Finland for beginners and those heading back to the slopes, while there are more offers for skiers aged 60 or over.
The tour operator is also the exclusive UK partner of the Austrian National Tourist Office’s ‘Ski Again’ campaign with packages to encourage those that have not skied for five years to return.
“We saw the first signs last winter of a recovery in the ski market and as the economy continues to gather pace in our 80th birthday year, we’re looking forward to seeing a resurgence in the beginners’ ski market and to welcoming back many of our guests who may have been forced to put their ski holidays plans on hold in recent years,” said Inghams’ agency sales manager Simon McIntyre.
Overall the tour operator has added 10 new resorts that also include Bad Kleinkirchheim, St Johann and Scheffau, Austria; Arosa/Lenzerheide, Switzerland; La Rosiere, France; Kronplatz and San Cassiano, Italy and Park City/Deer Valley, Utah.
Eighty four hotels have been added across resorts while six chalets have been added in St Anton, Morzine, La Rosiere, La Plagne, Meribel and Serre Chevalier. Its new 2014/15 brochure has been sent to travel agents with the chance to win a week’s skiing in Park City, USA or runners-up prizes of £50 Ellis Brigham vouchers.
“Although chalets and chalet hotels have become an important part of Inghams’ business in recent years we’re delighted to be able to welcome no less than 84 partner hotels to our programme for the first time,” said McIntyre.
