An upcoming travel trade show in eastern China is expected to help forge closer ties between mainland industry players and their Taiwanese counterparts.
Growth of Straits tourism has disappointed since the opening of the Taiwan tourism market to mainland residents in 2008.
The 7th Straits Travel Fair, which runs from 6 – 7 September in Xiamen, city, Fujian province, expects greater participation than in previous years. This is a positive sign and Chen Yangbiao, Deputy Director-General of the Fujian Provincial Tourism Bureau, is hopeful of enhanced cooperation. According to China Daily, more than 600 companies, including travel agencies, hotels, aviation companies and hotel product providers, have registered for the event this year.
