With reports of UK airports now offering less than a Euro to the pound, outdoor accommodation specialist Pitchup.com has suggested we look further afield for our next holiday destination – and go where you’ll get more bang for your buck.
As announcements that, under a ‘no deal’ Brexit, Brits will face higher credit card charges when shopping for EU purchases, Pitchup.com has recommended ditching the hotel for a camping or glamping break or planning a trip to a country where the value of the pound sterling is strong.
Top destinations for those seeking a last-minute break or finalising their winter sun getaways in 2018 are Argentina, Brazil and New Zealand, as well as Sweden and Hungary for those preferring a shorter journey. Each country offers greater value in currency exchange compared to August 2017, according to research conducted by FairFX on 9 August 2018.
“Well beyond the idea of a tent pitched in the middle of a field”
“Brits looking to make the most of their holiday budget can now select outdoor accommodation in 53 countries on Pitchup.com,” said Dan Yates, the site’s founder.
“Camping and glamping goes well beyond the idea of a tent pitched in the middle of a field – although we have plenty of those options available for hard-core campers and those looking to travel on the tightest of budgets. Hotel fans are increasingly drawn to chalets and cabins available on our site, such as Parque da Cachoeira in Brazil and New Zealand’s Rangiora Eco Holiday Park.”
