Travelport has been named the launch GDS partner for Strategic Airlines, Australia’s new full service airline. The full content agreement will see Strategic Airlines participate on a GDS for the first time in its history.
With the new distribution agreement, Galileo subscribers will have access to Strategic Airline’s routes, fares and seat availability, with full booking functionality. The airline will also provide full access to its inventory of flights and fares for Worldspan and Apollo connected travel agents in the coming weeks.
“As a new, full service passenger airline, we are delighted to have Travelport as our first GDS partner,” said Robert Kane, Chief Information Officer at Strategic Airlines. “They offered us a tailored solution for the distribution of Strategic Airlines’ product to travel agents and wholesalers which is an essential step in Strategic Airlines’ development. Travelport understands that priority and worked swiftly to help us bring forward this important element of our distribution strategy.”
“We are pleased to be the launch GDS partner for Strategic Airlines. This agreement not only secures unprecedented access to Strategic Airlines fares and content, but also furthers our commitment to offering the best possible content for our subscribers worldwide. We look forward to working with Strategic Airlines and delivering forward-looking solutions that support their next phase of growth in the region,” said Simon Nowroz, Travelport’s President and Managing Director for Asia Pacific.
Strategic Airlines currently operates scheduled services within Australia and to international destinations such as Bali and Phuket, with plans to fly to cities such as Honolulu and Shanghai later this year. It also offers corporate charter flights.
