Travelport unveils new selling tool for airlines
Travelport has unveiled a new solution designed to allow airlines to sell their fares and ancillary products to agents more effectively.
The Travelport Merchandising Platform is split into three retailing solutions, which will launch progressively over the coming months.
Travelport Aggregated Shopping, which is launching now, consolidates shopping results within the same screen, no matter what the source of the content. Also available immediately is Travelport Ancillary Services, which enables travel agents to sell airlines’ ancillary products and services. Finally, launching in late 2013 will be Travelport Rich Content and Branding, allowing airlines to provide more information on their products.
“Travelport Merchandising Platform paves the way for significant change in the distribution landscape by enabling airlines to go to market with all of their products in the right place, at the right time, in every channel. It provides complete consistency in how an airline’s product portfolio is presented and sold across all channels,” said Derek Sharp, Travelport’s managing director of global distribution & sales.
Airlines using the new Merchandising Platform include easyJet, British Airways, Aegean Airlines, Alitalia, Air New Zealand, Air France and KLM, enabling agents to book new services such as premium economy cabins and pre-paid seating.
