Recently launched Tristar Hotels promises to be a new shiny star on the Indian hospitality scene. The company has opened the plush Svelte Personal Suites in New Delhi’s Saket area. The INR1.23 billion (US$28.2 million), 83-suites property is already attracting the diplomatic, corporate and leisure traffic, for both short and long stay.
But CEO George Abraham says there is a lot more to come from Tristar, as the new chain plans to open as many as 10 more hotels - most of them all-suite properties - in locations across the country.
The development will be in two phases. The first phase, said Abraham, will be completed by September 2009, and see the Svelte flag flying in Pune, Kolkata and Bengaluru (Bangalore). Bengaluru will be home to a regular Tristar Hotel.
In the second phase, from 2010-11, all-suite properties will come up in Dehradun, Chandigarh and Mysore.
But the Tristar officials assure us that this is just the beginning, not the end, as the company is scouting for avenues in other cities as well.
