Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island will fully reopen to guests in September two years after a fire destroyed the retreat.

The island’s Great House will reopen in September after a two-year rebuild and has a Balinese influence with eight rooms, a Jacuzzi and panoramic rooms.

“The brand new Great House is the heart of the island and I am thrilled with the results so far. The opening of the Great House in September signals a new dawn for Necker which I’m very excited about,” said Branson on the resort, which can be booked through Virgin Limited Edition.

Branson was holidaying at the house in August 2011 with his family and friends when it was struck by lightning during Hurricane Irene’s movements through the Caribbean.

Hollywood actress Kate Winslet famously carried Branson’s grandmother to safety as the property fell apart, although the island was used weeks later as the backdrop to Holly Branson’s wedding.
