Sam Ballard has joined Travel Daily Media as online editor. Based in London, Ballard will oversee Cruise News UK and social media channels, as well as report for Travel Daily UK. He was most recently sub-editor at Business Monitor International and has also written for cruise titles.
Simon Rundle has been appointed sales manager at Travel Daily Media. Also based in London, Rundle joins us from Great Hotels of the World where he was business development executive EMEA for Evolution Distribution.
Eric Jelinek has been appointed as regional general manager for the UK and Ireland at Qantas. Jelinek has moved from Sydney for the role, where he was most recently head of inflight services for the airline. In addition, Rob Harrison has rejoined Qantas after a two-year absence as the new manager sales UK & Ireland. Harrison’s previous roles include senior sales positions at Carlson Wagonlit Travel, British Airways and American Airlines. Nick Crabb has also joined Qantas as manager marketing UK & Ireland from Qantas Holidays, where he was in the leisure and group sales team for UK & Ireland. Ex-Qantas Holidays UK head Jane McElrea has also moved over to Qantas airline as manager commercial development UK & Ireland.
“Mam” Puangthip Chotipantawanon has been promoted to director of operations at PATA. Chotipantawanon joined PATA in 2003 and has been responsible for supporting its events. She will now oversee operations across all departments.
Kieran Quinn has been appointed hotel manager of The Park Lane Hotel, London. Quinn joins the hotel from the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa in Edinburgh where he was executive assistant manager. He also worked across several hotels in Ireland.
Amelia Johnson has been appointed business development manager at dealchecker.co.uk. Johnson joins the site from ITV and will now help to grow and maintain client relationships. Darren Nicholls has also joined dealchecker, as its first apprentice. In his role of web and social media apprentice, Nicholls will assist the site’s content team and will also spend time with other business departments.
