UKinbound will be sharing its new report and a stand partner directory at WTM this year.
The association will issue the ‘UKinbound @ WTM’ publication to include information on its tourism report, Chinese Tour Guide Accreditation Scheme and the latest developments from stand partners.
This year the stand has the largest delegation to date with tourism destinations, attractions and others.
The association’s report found tourism is outperforming other sectors for growth in the UK economy and was revealed at a Parliamentary Reception with ex tourism minister John Penrose MP and the new minister Helen Grant MP yesterday (31 October).
Tracking the performance of its members, the association found 66% of UK tourism businesses have seen an increase in business this year, while 40% have hired extra staff. Nearly half are seeing business levels higher than last year, while 25% reported the same as 2012.
“We remain hopeful that this report will help place tourism at the top of the political agenda, safeguarding its position in the future growing tourism to the UK and spearheading economic regeneration,” said Mary Rance, chief executive of UKinbound. “Tourism is one of the largest industries in the UK. It employs 2.7 million people, one in eleven of all people employed in the UK, and generates £136 billion in revenue for the economy. Tourism is certainly leading the way and it is growing too – the revenue generated by the industry grew by 9 billion in 2012.”
