Unite’s general secretary has invited British Airways’ new chief executive to discuss a solution to the cabin crew row. Len McCluskey said he was keen to meet with Keith Williams after the new BA boss showed a ‘more positive tone’ to the dispute than his predecessor Willie Walsh. “Being valued and having respect and dignity at work is what crew have been fighting for, so I am pleased at the tone of this changed approach,” said McCluskey. “Mr Williams goes on to say that he wants the angry words of the past put behind us so that we can find a language to reflect a common purpose and indicates that he is prepared to meet to seek a successful conclusion to your dispute.” Ten thousand cabin crew will be balloted by the union this month, the fourth ballot in two years. A BA spokesperson said the airline had always been available to talk and its position hadn’t changed.
