United Continental sees decline in October demand

United Continental Airlines has reported a year on year decrease in passenger traffic through October. Consolidated demand, measured in Revenue Passenger Miles (RPM), fell by 5.1% against a capacity reduction of 3.4%. This resulted in a 1.5 points dip in system wide load factors to 82%, a good performance by international standards. The sharpest drops were seen in the domestic market, while the international routes witnessed lighter declines. International routes posted an overall load factor of 79.8%, down 2.4 points, with Pacific operations proving slightly more resilient averaging 82% load factors compared to 83.5% in October 2010.
