The inaugural flight with the new cabin on board a Boeing 767 will fly between Washington Dulles and Frankfurt. United said that flight will earn it “the distinction of becoming the first U.S. carrier to offer 180- degree, lie-flat beds in business
class on overseas flights”.
United says that 767 will be the first of the 97 international aircraft that will be modified and will alternate from Dulles
on flights to Frankfurt and Zurich.
In its release, United says next “will be a Boeing 747 that is scheduled to begin flying in mid-December and a Boeing
777 that is scheduled to fly in early February”. It said after these three are modified, the rollout will begin
through late 2009 with one reconfigured plane joining the fleet every week.
