UNWTO-PATA aims to improve data exchange

In the release, John Koldowski, Director of PATA’s Strategic Intelligence Centre stressed the importance of valid statistics and analysis, something the fractured travel industry sorely needs.
“Effective strategic planning and research is increasingly critical to success in today’s rapidly changing business environment and this is a first step in what we hope will be an on-going dialogue between tourism researchers to improve information exchanges and stay abreast of new data analysis and interpretation techniques,” he said.
As Oxford Economics Chairman John Walker heads the conference’s impressive line up, it is likely the World Tourism Organisation’s statistic-collection efforts will be raised.
In 2004, UNWTO established the Inter-agency Coordination Group of Tourism Statistics with the aim of collecting accurate statistics.
