Friday 18 December 2009, Nadi Fiji: Virgin Blue Airline Group’s premium long-haul airline, V Australia, will arrive into Nadi International Airport at 2.20pm TODAY bringing with it a full plane load of eager tourists, Australian media and VIP Guests on its first flight from Sydney.
Today’s inaugural flight marks the beginning of new daily services which will add an additional 181 seats a day between the two cities and will further compliment the current Pacific Blue flights from Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide to Fiji.
V Australia Executive General Manager, Scott Swift, who will be onboard today’s flight said, “The Virgin Blue Airline Group has had a long relationship with Fiji ever since our sister airline Pacific Blue commenced services in September 2004.
“We are fully committed to this market and V Australia’s launch today signals the start of more options for travellers between Australia and Fiji.
“With more seats in the market, more competitive pricing and more product range, from our luxurious award-winning International Business class to our spacious Premium Economy and comfortable and affordable Economy cabin, we expect to attract even more tourists to this delightful island nation.”
Scott Swift added, “Importantly as a growing Airline Group we’ve always had enormous support from Fiji across all sectors including business, government, tourism and trade for which we are very grateful.”
Roundly applauding the commencement of the new V Australia services Tourism Fiji Regional Director Australia, Paresh Pant, said the new services will undoubtedly accelerate Fiji’s steadily growing visitor numbers from Australia.
While the destination experienced a drop in visitor arrivals in the first three months of the year, Mr Pant said the upsurge in visitor arrivals in recent months from Australia had been nothing short of breathtaking.
“Hot on the heels of our record breaking July and August performance from this market, Fiji again set a new arrival record in September when we attracted more than 26,000 Australian visitors.
“While Fiji is very much back in vogue with the Australian market, we are confident the new V Australia services and the very attractive rates the airline is currently offering will have a major impact on our visitor arrivals from this market in coming months.
“Add that the fact V Australia will be a game changer for the conference and incentive market, its full service Business and Premium Economy products will undoubtedly prove a catalyst for an increase in the top end leisure travel market,” Paresh Pant finished.
From its brand new aircraft, attentive cabin crew, boutique bar, gourmet meals, generous legroom, state-of-the-art award winning in-flight entertainment and unique mood lighting, V Australia offers the finest product in the sky between Australia and Fiji.
Scott Swift said, “We’re very pleased to be able to now offer a complete product to meet the needs and budgets of all travellers from luxury business and leisure travel, quality premium economy or comfortable and affordable economy from Australia to Fiji.
“We’re sure Guests who have not previously had the opportunity to experience V Australia will be very pleasantly surprised with the space, facilities and service available in all three cabins onboard our brand new Boeing 777 aircraft.”
Scott Swift added, “V Australia’s new services will also help to boost international visitors from the US to the spoils of the Fiji Islands with convenient connections for inbound tourists from America now available via Sydney.”
The first V Australia flight will have an onboard celebration including an in-flight fundraising campaign to raise money for the Cure Kids Fiji charity which has been raising money for vital medical research into children’s life threatening illnesses for 35 years.
The V Australia team will also attend a special welcome function this evening hosted by OneWorld Flight Centre, where they will have the opportunity to meet and greet local government, business, industry and media guests.
