Vietnam exceeded its full-year tourism target in 2013, welcoming a total of 7.57 international visitors – a year-on-year increase of 10.6%.
The country welcomed 6.85m arrivals in 2012 and had targeted 7.2m arrivals for the following year. But strong growth from emerging markets including China and Russia helped the country exceed this target.

South Korea (+6.8% to 748,727), Japan (+4.8% to 604,050), Taiwan (-2.5% to 398,990) and Cambodia (+3.1% to 342,347) completed the top five.
But visitor arrivals from Russia saw the strongest growth in 2013, jumping 71.1% to 298,126, making the country Vietnam’s largest European source market.
Arrivals from Southeast Asian countries also saw strong growth, including Thailand (+19.1% to 268,968), Indonesia (+15.7% to 70,390) and Malaysia (+13.5% to 339,510), while the number of Australian arrivals increased 10.3% to 319,636.
For 2014, Vietnam is now aiming to attract eight million international arrivals.
