Virgin Australia has become the platinum sponsor and first airline partner for Tourism Australia’s business events show, Dreamtime 2013.
In this capacity, Virgin Australia will provide flights for international buyers invited to the event, as well as all domestic travel for attendees.
Dreamtime 2013 will gather approximately 100 international business events buyers and media in Melbourne from 9-13 December. The business and networking programme will be hosted by the Melbourne Convention Bureau, and will be followed by three days of educational visits to destinations including Adelaide, Cairns, Gold Coast, Sydney and Uluru.
“Ninety-nine percent of visitors to Australia arrive by air and so Tourism Australia works closely with airlines both overseas and domestically to fill the seats that are currently available through powerful marketing and distribution,” said Tourism Australia’s managing director, Andrew McEvoy.
“Dreamtime is our opportunity to showcase Australia as a business events destination to international buyers, and so it is fitting that we have Virgin Australia on board as a platinum event sponsor to help us demonstrate all that Australia has to offer.”
The sponsorship marks the latest stage in the partnership between Tourism Australia and Virgin Australia, which has been ramped up since last year, when the Australian tourism board severed its ties with Qantas. The two companies also recently partnered on the ‘Best Jobs in the World’ campaign.
