A Virgin Blue flight carrying 55 passengers was forced to make a high-speed landing at Melbourne airport, The Australian newspaper has reported. The Brazilian-made Embraer jet en route from Sydney experienced problems with its flaps as it attempted to land on Sunday evening. Emergency services were scrambled, but the plane landed safely, the newspaper reported.
