Visit Forbidden City – as a virtual eunuch
Online tourists can now visit Beijing’s famous Forbidden City, through a 3-D recreation of the palace, Reuters has reported. Virtual visitors can watch Qing dynasty feasts, practice archery, and even dress up as an imperial eunuch in the IBM project.
“When you enter the Forbidden City you choose one of nine historical costumes, which is to give a sense of history but also keep a sense of decorum,” said John Tolva, IBM’s Program Manager for the “Beyond Space and Time” project.
“One of the costumes you can choose is a eunuch,” added IBM Vice President, Paula W. Baker.
