Visitor per resident ratio high in Dubai: Mastercard

A recent Mastercard report stated that Dubai has attracted more visitors per head of population than any other country globally this year. The ration was considered high with 4.8 visitors per resident, as reported by Emirates 24I7.
The other factors that were highlighted in the report is that Dubai ranked top among 132 countries in terms of highest spending by overnight visitors per city resident, with a figure of US$3,863 (AED14,189). The city superseded Amsterdam with 2.6 tourists for every resident and London with 2.3.
Subsequently, the growth of the retail sector has resulted in an increase in visitor spending in Dubai which touched 7.5% in the past year, amounting to a total spend of US$10 bn (AED40 bn) in 2014. The international overnight visitor stays accounted for 11.95 m in Dubai in 2014.
However, the report also stated that Dubai could soon become the second most visited country in the world.
