Hong Kong received a record number of visitors during February 2010, its tourism board revealed today.Over 2.8 million people visited the city during the month, a 32.5% growth on last year. Hong Kong Tourism Board believes the reason behind was the surge of Mainland arrivals during the Lunar New Year Golden Week. European visitor numbers were up by 9.9%, with a UK growth of 1.3%. Across the first two months of 2010 total arrivals stood at 5.8 million, a 17.5% increase in both long-haul and short-haul markets. Travellers from Asia and Taiwan both grew by 12.7% and visitors from India and South Korea increased by 32.5% and 37.6% respectively.Hotel occupancies across all categories rose by 3% to 79% and the locations with the highest occupancy at 84% were Yau Ma Tei and Mong Kok.
