Macau, SAR – Viva Macau Airlines, Macau’s international award-winning airline, today announced that it achieved a new record in December 2009 for total passengers carried internationally to and from Macau, with the best single day of international passenger volumes carried on December 30 2009 and with 198,820 passengers for the year from Vietnam, Indonesia, Japan and Australia.
CEO Dr. Reg Macdonald explained, “In 2009 Viva Macau set new records for passenger volumes from Vietnam, Indonesia, Japan and Australia. Direct international flight access is the key to success of Macau’s tourism, hospitality and MICE industry and its success as Asia’s best destination. Visitors arriving by air direct from places like Japan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Australia and India travel farther, stay longer, and spend more in Macau: that is why our mission is to “bring the world to Macau”! With double-digit growth in 2009 and passengers for the year representing important new demographics for Macau tourism, Viva Macau continues to contribute strongly to Macau tourism’s diversification.”
In 2009 Viva Macau passenger volumes grew strongly, achieving approximately 198,820 passengers with expanded frequencies and flights between Macau and Vietnam, Indonesia, Japan and Australia. Further demonstrating the commitment to Macau’s development with the launch and expansion of Melbourne flights and upcoming Hanoi service, Viva Macau plays the role of the “front line” of Macau tourism in Vietnam, Japan, Indonesia and Australia.
