Hilton’s ultra-luxury hotel brand, Waldorf Astoria, has arrived in Beijing.
The Waldorf Astoria Beijing welcomed its first guests last week, becoming the brand’s second hotel in China following the Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund.
Located in the city’s Dongcheng district, on the site of the old Xianliang Temple, the new property is comprised of two buildings with different styles. The main tower is a modern bronze building while the surrounding ‘Hutong Villas’ are designed in a Chinese imperial style. There are 176 rooms, including three Hutong studios and the Waldorf Hutong Villa and housed in two villas in a garden courtyard.
Facilities at the hotel include three restaurants, a spa, fitness centre, heated indoor swimming pool and 796m² of meeting space.
“Beijing, a fusion of China’s past and present splendour, is the perfect location for Waldorf Astoria’s second hotel in China,” said Martin Rinck, Hilton’ president for Asia Pacific. “Waldorf Astoria Beijing will build on the success of its namesake, the renowned Waldorf Astoria New York, and its legacy of timeless luxury and exceptional experiences.”
Waldorf Astoria Beijing becomes the 24 member of the brand’s portfolio, but only the second in East Asia.
